Happy Thursday!!! Thursday means it’s almost the weekend, and around AFL, that means we start thinking about cocktails (or mocktails). You know we’ll celebrate for any reason — the fact that it’s cocktail hour is enough in and of itself — BUT we are celebrating something special this Thursday: the {almost finished} and totally successful first week of A Feteful Life! And that not only calls for a cocktail, but a sparkling cocktail. So, we bring you the Ginger Sparkler. This is sweet, fizzy and fabulous. With a good bite from the ginger, to boot. And while we are busy toasting each other to a great first blog week, we’d also like to toast all of you for helping us have a sparkling start.

Ginger Sparkler {from Martha Stewart}
Ingredients
2 teaspoons finely grated peeled fresh ginger
1/2 cup sugar
1 bottle (750 ml) dry sparkling wine, such as Cava, Proseecco, or Champagne
Directions
Step 1: set a fine-mesh sieve over a small bowl; set aside. In a small saucepan, boil ginger, sugar, and 1/4 cup water until syrupy, about 2 minutes. Pour through sieve into bowl, discarding solids. (To store syrup, refrigerate in an airtight container, up to 1 week).
Step 2: Pour 1 tablespoon syrup into each of 8 tall glasses. Top with sparkling wine, and gently stir.
These were amazing! I made them for a party last night and they were a hit! Thanks for a great idea!
So glad! I was also shocked at how fabulous they were given their simplicity. I’ve also heard that sparkling water + ginger syrup = fabulous homemade gingerale. As if you had any of the syrup leftover 😉
